Description
The whole American Snack Food Icon sculpture craze started with a pewter saltine in a cigarette box. It was vended from a refurbished and repurposed cigarette machine in locations like The Whitney Museum of American Art. There are about 80 such cigarette machines, known as an Art-O-Mat [www.artomat.org], around the country. Thousands of art collectors around America own pewter saltines. Now, on special request, the saltine and several of the other pewter snack food items have been shrunk and cast in sterling silver. This necklace is my first hand sculpted saltine using the lost wax method.
