I fell in to a burnin’ ring of fire. I wend down down down, and the silicone went higher.
The red flock and the yellow pigment remain somewhat separate when combined, allowing me to keep contrasting colors.
This ring is made with Dragon Skin silicone, flock, and pigment.
I was looking for translucency in silicone for a client project. The dyes were coming out opaque at the color density I needed. Marc, at The Compleat Sculptor, suggested colored flock — the stuff on fuzzy Valentine’s candy boxes and Hallmark cards — to let light pass through. I stirred in too much for this ring so it doesn’t let much light through, but it’s a nice subtle depth effect when you hit it.

Anyone who knows me knows that I would have yellow pigment for silicone in my tool kit. Yesterday’s icicles are today’s flames.

I was mixing up some silicone to make a mold and had a little extra. I started playing with it on the mandrel. The silicone is translucent like petroleum jelly. It stretches a few sizes, so I can make one size for men and one for ladies.
