Wondered if this would fit with one gem up or two. Seems wifie likes it with two on top. There’s a red ruby, a blue tourmaline, and a white CZ set into a size 7 Thai Gold band.

When I pulled out the proportional divider and measured the drawing, I intended to put 12 stones on this band. So, when the proportional divider landed back on the original dot as I was plotting the gem seats, I didn’t think anything of it. I was surprised to have an extra gem. At first I figured the vendor miscounted and gave me one extra.
It’s a case of “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

Been reading the history and meaning of rings, as well as visiting the Egyptian and Greek exhibits at our fine museums here in New York. Planning some epic rings in my imagination. For the time being, I’m just happy to have the BronzClay cooperating again.

Now we’re getting somewhere. This was a bit bubbly and grainy, but it took a CZ. The firing pan’s lid looks like a potato chip. I flattened it out and now things seem to fire better.

Started by setting five 1.5mm CZs, but the metal below the center CZ was still powder (it didn’t sinter properly). Luckily, drilling out to 3mm for a bigger stone seemed to fix the problem. I’m starting to have fun making gypsy set stones. Haven’t broken one yet (hurray!). Just ordered two kinds of silver clay. Stay tuned.
