Brass plumbing parts are becoming a favorite base material. I found this 12mm Swarovsky crystal and went to the hardware store. The salesman asked why I was comparing the gem to the fittings. I said that I didn’t want my wife’s ring to fit down the drain. Making people laugh is always easier than explaining why you’d want to do that thing with the other thing.

Wanted to set some gems today. I have this beautiful 8mm alexandrite. It changes color from red, to pink, to purple depending on the light. It’s a really lovely stone. the setting allows in lots of light.
