Ring-A-Day: Hammered Sterling Stack of Rings

My caster didn’t finish today’s piece so at 5pm I had to scramble a bit. I had some sterling wire and fashioned some hammered rings. These are always fun as bracelets, but I’ve discovered they’re quite nice as rings too.

Ring-A-Day: Hammered Sterling Rings

Have a pill box of sprues from all my castings. Took a bunch of them and balled them up with the torch. Made four giant jump rings and hammered them out. Added the balls between the rings and here it is.

Ring-A-Day: Swiss Cheese Ring

I have this great piece of copper roofing material with a beautiful natural patina that I go to every now and then for the Ring-A-Day project. It’s a little pitted and a bit rough, but that gives it great texture when combined with a little hammering.

Ring-A-Day: Rivet Ring

Hammered and blackened copper strips formed on a mandrel. Split design allows adjustibility.

Ring-A-Day: 0323120925

Today, I let the camera name the ring instead of going the Jackson Pollock route of Untitled. After hammering a copper core and peening the surface, I wrapped it with brass wire. The two metals have different amounts of give. the wire ended up very loopy. This ring might have otherwise been called wreath-ring.
