Maze gardens have fascinated me since The Shining. Also known as a hedge maze, an homage to Chatsworth Garden can now fit on your finger.

Wow. Learned a valuable lesson today.
I’ve been carving this ring a few minutes a day for about a week. I found the cute little piece of double cube pyrite last week and wanted to make a silver setting for it. It’s a size 12 so there’s lots of rock and metal.
So what do you think I did after a week of working on this? I crushed the rock. It was almost perfect, but the prong was just a little crooked. Squeeze a little bit more and POP!
Today’s lesson: The gem is the most important thing. You can melt down metal and start over, but you can’t melt down a gem and start over.

The first stamped 451° ring in copper was so popular that I had to make one cast in sterling silver for Montag.
It’s available for purchase here.

There’s that awkward period where kids discover privacy and feel like their parents are always looking at them. They say thinks like “OMG, you’re so hovering.” Never mind that parents usually just like their kids. If your kids say something like this, you can tell them to go do the Hoovering.

Brass plumbing parts are becoming a favorite base material. I found this 12mm Swarovsky crystal and went to the hardware store. The salesman asked why I was comparing the gem to the fittings. I said that I didn’t want my wife’s ring to fit down the drain. Making people laugh is always easier than explaining why you’d want to do that thing with the other thing.
